When the holiday season hits, one of my favorite indulgences is a festive Eggnog Latte from my favorite coffee shop. There’s something so comforting about that creamy, spiced goodness in a cozy cup—but let’s be real, those lattes can add up fast. That’s when I decided it was time to create my own version that’s just as delicious and easy to make right at home.

Plus, they’ve become a favorite way to use my homemade eggnog! Whether I’m sipping one during a cozy holiday movie night or serving them up with Christmas breakfast, these lattes bring the perfect festive touch to any moment. They’re rich, creamy, and spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of vanilla sweetness—perfect for treating yourself or sharing with loved ones.

Ingredients Needed for Eggnog Latte

  • Eggnog: Use your favorite brand or homemade eggnog for maximum flavor.
  • Milk: A splash of milk makes it creamier; whole milk works best.
  • Cold Brew Coffee: Adds depth; regular brewed coffee works, too.
  • Vanilla Extract: Enhances the warm holiday flavors.
  • Coconut Sugar: Adds a hint of caramel; you can use granulated sugar 1:1 or pure maple syrup for sweetness.
  • Cinnamon and Nutmeg: These spices tie the latte together with that signature holiday warmth.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Swap cold brew for a shot of espresso for a bolder flavor. You can also use regular brewed coffee or instant coffee if you would like.
  • Use oat milk or almond milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Add a splash of rum or bourbon for a spiked treat.

Shortcut Ideas

  • Use pre-made cold brew or espresso pods for quick prep.
  • Store-bought whipped cream makes topping effortless.
  • Pick up a spiced eggnog to skip measuring the cinnamon and nutmeg.

Recipe Tips for Easy Homemade Eggnog Latte

  • Don’t Overheat: Warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Avoid boiling to keep the eggnog from curdling and to preserve its creamy texture.
  • Froth It Up: For an extra café-style touch, use a handheld frother or blend the mixture again after heating to create a luscious foam layer.
  • Pre-Warm Your Mugs: Rinse your mugs with hot water, set in a mug warmer, or pop in the microwave for a few seconds before pouring in the latte to keep your drink warmer longer.
  • Fresh Spices: Use freshly grated nutmeg if possible—it makes a noticeable difference in flavor and aroma.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Taste the mixture before heating and adjust the sweetness to your preference with a touch more coconut sugar or maple syrup.

What to Serve with Lattes

Eggnog Lattes are a favorite treat for our family during the chilly winter months, especially during the holiday season. They’re just as wonderful after dinner, too! Try serving them with my Southern Chocolate Pecan Pie, Pecan Chewy Cake, or a slice of Classic Red Velvet Cake. Whether it’s part of a holiday breakfast or the finishing touch to dessert, this latte always brings a little extra cheer to the table
