Christmas is always a time filled with wonder and expectation. This time of year there are so many things on our list with all the holiday parties, kid’s classroom parties, or Christmas events. I’m always looking for something simple to make or something I can make ahead to make entertaining easy.

Santa Jello Cups are just that! Fun holiday treats made effortlessly with the help of a simple printable (found below). Santa’s Belly isn’t complete without a wide black belt trimmed with a gold buckle.

Key Ingredient Notes

  • Red Jell-O Packet: I like to use strawberry jello, but you could use cherry or raspberry jello. Anything red works. You will also need water to make the jello.
  • Whipped Cream: The spray kind works for easy. You can also use a dollop of homemade whipped cream or even Cool Whip. If you want the same piped effect use a piping bag with your homemade version.
  • Printable Santa Belts: Download the PDF Free Santa Belt Printable HERE. Then print and cut each belt out. A fun activity for the kids to help with.
  • Clear Cups: Use any that you have at home. I find the 9-ounce solo cups were a perfect size for Santa’s Belly.

Variations and Substitutions

  • Make Santa Hats: Top with whipped cream and a strawberry with the stem cut off for Santa’s hat. You can trim the hat with whipped cream on top or stick in a mini marshmallow.
  • Don’t want to make the jello. Just use a premade jello cup and the belt.
  • Paint the Santa Belts on the cup for another fun art project with the kiddos.
  • Holiday Cheer: Want a festive adult treat to make for your next party? Make Fun Santa Hat Jello Shots by replacing 1 cup of cold water with a cup of vodka or vanilla vodka. Use plastic shot cups. Pipe whipped cream on top of the jello shots and garnish with fresh strawberries. This will make about 24 servings.

Tips

  • Make Ahead: Make the Santa Jello Cups 1-2 days before needing to serve them. This allows time to chill and set up. Then they are ready for your party or event. Add whipped cream just before serving. You can even find plastic cups with plastic lids for easy transport.

Recipe FAQ’s

How to make Jello set faster?

To speed-set or quick-set the jello, mix 1 ½ cups of boiling water into the jello mix. Then add ice to 1 cup of cold water to measure 2 ½ cups. Then stir that into the gelatin mixture until slightly thickened. Remove any unmelted ice cubes. Pour into cups and place in the refrigerator to finish setting for about 30 to 90 minutes.

Can I put Jello in the freezer to set faster?

You can speed up the time by placing it in the freezer for about 15 minutes. You will need to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t freeze. Freezing the jello will ruin it.

Can I make this Low Carb?

Yes. Use sugar-free jello for a fun way to enjoy the perfect low-carb Christmas dessert. Add them to your table along with the Christmas cookies for a more keto-friendly option for guests.
